I had to pay a professional to come hook it up because I could not figure it out just to find out it wasnt compatable. User refused to refund my money and let me return product. I have received no commet from the buy after send info about wanting to return product. Item needed to be more specific. Item had piece moving in it and was not compatiable with my Lexmark.
I'm only taking the time to write this because I have used this now for over a year with no real issues using multiple wireless and wired computers in my house with family and friends. Whenever I cancel a print job on either MacOS or WIN, I need to reset the print server to get going again (a simple unplug then plug or press the reset button). Once properly setup, configured and tested it works great with one exception.
Setup with MacOS printer setup utility, I ended up with name, 192.168.15.78 , and location, Location Unknown. You need to be alert and aware to configure this to use on the network with multiple computers both wired and wireless. Hello, Yes, this works great.
This is not a plug and play (I don't know if any are). Have fun, it's worth it. Setup with windows XP pro and Vista, I don't remember as I'm not a windows guy, but the linksys site tells you how.
To work smooth with my linksys router, I had to call linksys and find the tech sheets on their website to assign the print server a static IP address.
This can be worked around by unplugging the usb to the print server and connecting it directly to a computer. Good: I followed the instructions and set this unit up on four computers without problems. Oh well, live and learn. But the most annoying aspect of all this is that this little "limitation" is not mentioned anywhere in the setup manual or in information that I could find on the linksys website. Now everyone can print without the printer being hooked up to one computer that has to be on. The unit performs as expected.Bad: I found out the hard way that this print server will not allow full functionality of a multi-function printer, specifically; it will not allow scanning.
Because of this setup ,the computers do not have to be tethered to the printer and I can print on these computers anywhere in the house. Samsung SCX-4521F Laser Multifunction Machine Print/Copy/Fax/Scan The Linsky PSUS4 PrintServer operated flawlessly through the Samsung Scx-4521F USB port.It enabled a wireless connection to two separate notebook computers.
Great product. I have 2 computers and I want them to share 1 usb laser printer. Installing this was a snap.
